GAA barrel info
« on: April 14, 2024, 05:28:51 AM »
I found an 8 groove GAA barrel in 45 caliber, the seller says it’s 3/4” atf. Is he correct or did he measure incorrectly? Seems like it might be thin at that size. I’d love to hear your opinion on this assuming he’s measured correctly. Actually any information on GAA barrels would be appreciated.

Years ago I had two GAA barrels and I thought they were 7 cuts not 8.  :-\

Did Douglas ever produce barrels with 8 grooves? I also thought GAA were 7 grooves.

It is probably 13/16" and he didn't measure close enough.  Golden Age sold re-marked Douglas barrels.  Don't know about the grooves.

Back then I was under the impression that regular Douglas and Douglas XX had 8 and they cut 7 for Golden Age Arms.  :-\

I have a Green MTN barrel that is .45 cal and 3/4" across the flats. I'd say flintlock only.

Do you think this is something worth pursuing? The barrel is part of a kit of some sort, seems it’s complete but I’m not nutty about all the components.
