English Gentleman's Sporting Rifle - Finished

I finished this .58 cal. Sporting Rifle this week for one of my best customers! I covered the basics in an earlier thread here. But again, I used all the parts from Barbie Chambers kit except there was no pre-carved stocks available so I used my own black walnut blank at my guy's aproval.
It is stained with Klein's Golden Brown and Orange Toner and finished with 4 coats of tung oil and JD Beck's original formula wax.
Weighing in at 7.6 lbs. it should make a wonderful handling deer rifle!

That would be some mighty fine craftsmanship!  Great carving, nicely executed, fine architecture, excellent engraving.  The now owner will be proud.

The last round ball rifle I made was 58 caliber and black walnut.Lock was a Ketland like the one Dave Penningtpn posted here recently.
I was amazed at how well it shot with a .562 ball and wish I had kept it.It was NOT as nice as this one but someone has a good flintlock
hunting rifle that won't be damaged by a scratch.Excellent work of the officers rifle and thanks for showing it to us.

I wonder how it would have looked with blackened steel vice brass furniture? It's a very nicely done rifle ;) ::) and it's meant to hunt. Thanks Tom.

Quite a statement  but  so TRUE.  NOTHING points like an English gun. Jaegers are merely close. Hawkins are out in left field.imho, of course.

Really nice Tom, however I'd be smoothing that factory macine-cut crown so you can load a combination that will do such a nice rifle full justice.
