How to clean antique flask?

Heres one with corrosion and Im wondering if theres a method to clean it without destroying the patina? Or would you just let it go?

I would try a soft bristle toothbrush and some three in one oil, maybe a little baking soda mixed in. Not sure on those things but I don't think it would hurt the value unless there is some unique provenance that goes with it.Once you figure a way to clean it to your satisfaction please post an 'after' picture.
Maybe Feltwad will weigh in on this, he is very knowledgeable on the subject.

I think Robby has it re. oil.

It may help stop in the oxidization.
Zinc flasks can fall to pieces pretty easily as they oxidize.
oil, then wax may help.
Its got a good fireproof top by the looks of things.
