Mike Brooks NC rifle in action
« on: November 11, 2024, 06:12:05 PM »
Finally had a chance to take the Brooks rifle the range.   It is a .45 rifle patterned after the remains of a verified NC mountain rifle.

Shot very nicely, though I need to use a bit longer flint.   This is my son firing it.

If it was easy, everyone would do it.

Mike Brooks?! You’re lucky to get a flash in the pan. It’s probably made out of an old fence post and scrap iron! But we probably need to see more photos to be sure. 🤣

Hey Bones,
Does Walmart still carry those moccasins? I could sure use a couple of pairs for my grandkids.

Redheart, those are actually Clark Wallabee shoes.  I don't have much in the way of "period" footwear, so I wore my Clarks.   They are loosely based on a moccasin design, and generally very comfortable.

For some reason my eyes tricked me and thought the post read "Mel Brooks North Carolina Rifle".
Obviously, I had to open it. So, I looked at the rifle and it hit me, that is really a nice rifle and by a famous comedian none the less.
Seriously those crepe soled Wallabies are great stalking shoes. They are comfortable and very quiet.

@alacran, maybe Mel and Mike are kin?
