This is a Russ Hamm "P. Gonter" lock. They were decent quality locks, I used a number of Hamm locks when I first started making MLs, but  I would not pay more than the current going price for a lock for it. The  Siler  (for example) is a much better lock and parts are available.

I have a right hand version of it on a 36 yr-old rifle made by Keith Casteel that still works fine, although I retired it from 'active service' years ago.

I used them as they were the only ones with alternative styles to Siler.  Did not think much of them and will agree that a Siler is better.

Pass. Roughly the quality of the better Italian imports of the time. Hard to get repair parts. Worth the  parts if you have a rifle that uses this lock. In othe words, if you have a rifle you like with his lock, I would buy it. A fools mission for a new modern build.
