Boggs Tool Engraver's jigs
« on: November 13, 2024, 11:49:40 PM »
I have made three separate jigs to aid in the holding and engraving of flintlock cocks and the top flint jaw.  The cock holder (vise) is a design based on a hand drawn sketch given to me by Ron Scott as a potential project.  I have made a few changes from the original sketch.  The jaw jigs are my design for holding the top flint jaw when it is being worked.  One is for engraving and the other for cutting teeth on the jaw's flint side. All tools are made of steel except the tooth cutting jaw holder which I made of aluminum.  I wanted to have a softer surface to protect the top jaw side when it's being worked.  Both flint jaw holders have a piece of brass attached to the front of the jig with screws to keep the jaw from twisting.  The brass has an approximate .050" slit cut into it where the front of the jaw fits.  The vise and jaw jigs will work with most common flintlocks.  They are NOT going to work with all.

All three pieces are $135.00 shipped

Those look like they will do the desired job. Thanks for transforming  an idea on paper to a precision tool. I am committing to purchase a set.
