This is a higher end gun signed by J.P. Moore of N.Y. & N.Y. City, He was known to make guns on the expensive side.   This rifle may have been cased at one time and remains in shootable condition. ( Although I have never shot it ! ) It is profusely engraved and stalked in English Walnut with a lot of Silver inlays. The intire rifle is heavily English influenced. including the flint style patch box on a percussion rifle well into the percussion era.  There is a very comprehensive description of this gun on Bruce Miller's ALR Virtual Library, New York exhibits, J.P. Moore. I was asking $ 3,500, NOW $ 3,000 Shipping paid to cont. USA.  Thanks again for looking. I have many more photos if you want them.
 HT.

Taking a closer look at this NY. gun you will discover some unusual features that are not first noticed.  It has a single set trigger! Push the trigger forward to set it.  Don't push it and it will still fire with two stage pressures. The barrel is stamped "Maynard" bottom flat. Also the barrel has the ram rod groove milled into it with a retaining lip for the ram rod. Never have I seen a Ram Rod groove cut into the barrel on any other gun? It has a .445"-.045" bore with 8 groove rifling. This makes the gun very slim and delicate in appearance. It weighs: Approximately 6 lbs. Also notice the front and back slights, they are very low profile!  This means that the gun was used primarily for hunting and not competition shooting.  HT.

Bump to the top with several more photos of the inside of the lock and the lock mortise.  The inside of the lock exhibits the high end workmanship that is evident with the rest of the gun! HT.
