Its amazing what people once did to "old" rifles. I once bought a really nice 1819 Halls flint rifle that been made into a floor lamp. After removing all the $#@* and filling buttstock wiring hole it was a good shooter.

I imagine they pulled out the breechplug, and have the wire running up that way
