I knew the man that made this sight and he made locks and triggers and he was past 90 in 1954.He gave me a big sheet of annealed 1075 spring steel. This is a rare item.He lived in Marietta Ohio.

Just a question, is this sight marked? PI normally put his name on his items.

Hi,
No marking. I bought this from Log Cabin maybe five years ago.

Who is now making these sights? Certainly not Mr.Spence.He may have been the first to offer a new cap lock and set triggers to the builders after WW2.I think Chet Shoults offered the first new and usable flintlock as a market item in the mid 1950's and ot was cloned by a man whose name was Cochran who also made a left hand version. The Shoults lock mechanism was presented as the work of a machinist but it was really ALL good quality casings and only the screws were not castings.Chet made the mould masters and the castings were good and no complaints.I tried to make a flintlock using cast frizzens/pan/cock and top jaw but they were malleable iron and feeble sparks resulted but at that time I was working on imported cars and worn out Duesenbergs. MG-Morris-Jaguar and Riley so guns were not a contributor to our well being.
