2025 Alvin York match questions

Good Morning

At 69 and a muzzleloader since the early 70's it will be my first trip to the Alvin York match in Pall Mall Tn.  I don't have aspirations of taking a trailer to bring home a beef critter on the hoof but will bring a small cooler for my package of ground beef.

 I already secured a room close to the venue, but I have a few questions.

I was curious about when the 2025 Registration forms will be announced?  (I understand we have to mail these forms in my mid-March usually). 

Do we get a confirmation that the form was received? 

The reason I ask is that the match is limited to 200 shooters If I am not mistaken, and it would be disheartening to get ready for the match and get down there and we get a "We don't have a record of your registration". (shows how much I trust the USPS)

Great to hear of someone else wanting to do this shoot.  I have the perfect chunk gun rifle for it...but would have to fly there...too far to drive.  Congrats if you get to shoot.  I'll make it one day.

Azshot, I sure hope that you will breakout that chunk gun of yours and shoot this month's posatl target. Ever since you mentioned that rifle in an earlier post, I have been hoping that you would have a go at on of the monthly matches that would permit benching or "chunking" as a position. January's match rules say "any position".

I shall try.  I need to get up to speed on how to do a postal match.  The gun itself may not be ready because I haven't figured out a tight, accurate load.  Shooting about 4" groups now 50 yds, not really worth competing with that yet.  I need a different diameter ball, likely.  Also, both the nipple and the cleanout screw are screwed in tight, I can't remove them.  So if something goes wrong with a load, I'm kind of stuck trying to add powder....

Not yet.  The official website still has the 2024 information.  Since it is always the last Saturday in March, I have a room for 2 nights since it is a 5-hour drive for me.  I have been reading up on the course of fire and will get my long-barreled Tennessee mountain rifle ready.  I am just really going for the experience. Plus, Carper who is a friend of mine is bringing the three boys from Kodiak Island to compete.

Does anyone have a ph# to contact them with. I emailed them last year multiple times and this year also since the 2025 website is up and running. I have shot down there several years in the past and did very well, even though it is one of the hardest places to shoot, that I have ever shot.I have had a bad run of health problems in recent years, including, but not limited to 3 severe strokes in one day, which has left my right side partially paralyzed. I can no longer shoot prone, and tried contacting them to talk to somone about the PCCA, or Personal Chunk Aid, what ever they call it on the website in the rules sections. I shoot 5 days a week, usually from a table with a folding chair. I cant get down on a 5 gal bucket since it sits too low to get back up from, due to having 2 artificial hips.  Anyone who can help me with this, it would be greatly appreciated.

In the past, they have allowed some to shoot from a sitting position and table. Wouldn’t think it would be a problem for you. Surely don’t see any advantages over other shooters by using a table instead of prone over a chunk. I’ll be there and can help if you need it. There are 2 relays. Morning and afternoon, but everyone must be there for the 7am safety meeting.
