Triggerguard jig needed
« on: April 08, 2025, 08:46:15 PM »
I have a bunch of triggerguards to file and polish. Where can I get a good metal polishing jig meant to be clamped in a vice?

I could cobble together something of wood, but I already have too many irons in the fire.

I bought one from Robert Boggs (“Robert B” is his username). It’s terrific. You might send him a message to see if he has one available.

I second the one from Robert Boggs. It almost makes the job enjoyable.

What does this "jig" look like? Post a picture if possible. On some guards the inner bow is a problem but for a circular or semi circular style a bench grinder with a 1/2x20 shaft can be used by replacing the nut with a Jacobs or similar chuck with a 1/2x20 thread and then use small expanding rubber wheels with polishing sleeves. Some smaller bench grinders have a 3/8x24 shaft and there are Jacobs style chick with that thread.

Here is one I made a few years ago and it works really well. It rotates smooth and will accommodate any trigger guard.
