28 Ga. Profiles
« on: August 29, 2008, 05:31:21 AM »
My catalogs are old (though it seems like I just got'em) and this fowler surge is recent.

I'd like to build myself a fowler for shot and ball.  A fair load of shot and one that won't kick like a mule with ball loads.  Before I start, I'd like to make a drawing.

Who's making 28 gage barrels these days?  Who's catalog do I need to order?
Profiles are what I'm looking for.  Thanks ..............................Lynn

John has made me some great 28ga barrels in the past, he'd be the man to talk to.

Say, any of you boys smithies? Or, if not smithies per se, were you otherwise trained in the metallurgic arts before straitened circumstances forced you into a life of aimless wanderin'?

Thanks Don & Mike - Will Do!

I'm thinking a light slim profile in the 42 - 48" range - Flint of course!

That "Flintlock Fowlers" book is sure an inspiration!  Course I have 6 guns I need to build and no time at the moment to do it- but still have about 20 "must make" guns on my list.

I hear ya Rich - The fowler book is what got me.

Have 2 projects going now to get out of the way and then (hopefully) the fowler.
Trying to plan ahead now.

Roger - My next one might be too!
