I love the engraving on the buttplate and guard.  I'm asking myself, "could I get there from here?"  it'd be quite a journey; a lifetime pursuit, no guarantees.

Notice that the last picture is of a different rifle?  ..a Southern Mountain rifle perhaps?

Yes, that is one of our Early Germanic locks but modified somewhat by Ron.  He used a number of those locks over the years.
Both rifles belonged to a fellow who died.  I was asked to find new homes for them.  The Jaeger has a new home, the 32 cal. Tenn. rifle is still here looking for a home.

Yes I noticed. The muzzle on Ron's gun has engraved in script "use blackpowder only" in German.

Ron Ehlert was quite an inspiration for a lot of people, self included. I was always hoping to meet him in person.
