This bag and horn set is meant to evoke the early encounters between homesteading American sheep herders and the coyote during the early days of western expansion in the first half of the 19th century.

It is constructed of bark-tanned sheep hide and coyote hide, red wool, with an antique brass buckle. 

The engraved powder horn was made by Cory Joe Stewart and has a hemp cord strap.  It has an image of a man shooting at a canine invader near his homestead, and bears the inscription: “I POWDER WITH BRUTHER SHOT KILL THE KYOTEE ON THE SPOT.  HE CAN RUN WHICH HE WILL DO BUT OUR AIM WILL BE SWIFT AND TRUE.”
