Frank Sellers lists a good number of "Scott" gunsmiths in his "American Gunsmiths" quick reference book. He does not list any with first initial "F" or "T" but presuming that initial is worn and hard to decipher and has a straight edge, the possible makers (per his listings) could be:
E. Scott - Albany, NY in the percussion era.
E. Scott - Carson City, NV 1871.
L. Scott - Waverly, NY 1879-1882.
Mathew Scott - Ohio, and Debuque, IA 1850.
Pennington Scott - Millwood, OH 1850
R. H. Scott - Albany, NY 1848-1891.
Perhaps the best bet, since you lean toward an Ohio origin, is Pennington Scott of Millwood, Ohio. A couple of pictures of gun, showing both sides of gun from butt out to about 10" pasts the lock area, might confirm the area of manufacture. Hope this helps. Shelby Gallien
