Jacob Dubbs info???
« on: March 01, 2010, 04:28:57 PM »
Looking at TOTW website and others I see buttplate, triggerguard, and sideplate attributed to riflemaker Jacob Dubbs of the Lehigh school. I don't have any of the better known books yet for research; nor access to them. Any of the more learned here have any info on this builder? (Time, place, pics of guns, etc.?) Thanks in advance.

Hey Tin good luck finding anything but an attribute to Senor Dubbs (Daubs, etc.)  Several unsigned unknown Bucks Co type rifles get credited to Dubbs. A signed exmple would be great! Where's Eric A ? You other experts chime in here.

There is a patchbox signed Jacob Daub rifle on page 19 in "The Frontier Rifleman" by Richrad B LaCrosse. It is an interesting looking rifle. The buttplate and triggergaurd look right, it has a top opening patchbox, trigger looks appropriate, but the stock looks a little different to me. It has been converted to percussion and the barrel is only 33 1/2". I'm no expert, just trying to learn.

Larry Zorne at the Mold and Gun Shop, Jackson Ohio, offers a Jacob Dubbs, Bucks Co. rifle. His shows an Allentown influence.

I believe it is Eric, just my geuss. It has a five pointed star on the cheekpiece, but also fluer di lis (sp) inlays behind each lock panel. Sends confusing message.
I would scan but the scanner won't work. Sorry
