Bruce LePage Lots of Photos added
« on: February 11, 2010, 06:54:27 PM »
Who remembers Bruce LePage??

A friend has come into a VERY nice English gun via inheritance.  I don't think he really understands what he has.
I will try to post some photos tomorrow so all can see.

This is an incredibly beautiful piece.

Haven't seen Bruce in years. I hear he's up in Wisconsin somewhere again.

Say, any of you boys smithies? Or, if not smithies per se, were you otherwise trained in the metallurgic arts before straitened circumstances forced you into a life of aimless wanderin'?

I talked to Bruce about a month ago, he's still busy chasing those grooves in steel around.    I am working on a Remington
Hepburn action.   Have it stocked up and barreled but have to clean up some metal, after that I am sending it out to Bruce
to do some engraving, who knows, I might even get his signature "foot" on it.  I like his bold style of engraving, if and when I do get this thing done, I wll let him do his thing, I like his artistic style..........Don

Sounds great Don, I'd love to see that Hepburn when Bruce finishes it.

Bruce used to come to our Prairie State Longrifle Show, back about twenty years ago. (The show at the end of this month marks our 25th year for this show) I haven't seen him in years, but his work speaks for itself.

Like everyone else, I haven't seen Bruce for several years, but I remember when John Getz and I helped him come up with a design for a patch box lid showing Gabriel with horn and winged feet with an appropriate saying.  Remember that one Don?

Bruce's work is absolutely wonderful.

Randy.......yes, I remember that, was a lot of fun as I recall.  I don't think Mark Silver has recovered yet.   How about the
flying foot award we came up with.   I still drink coffee out of my flying foot mug every week.............Don

Don,

My flying foot mug is still in constant use.  My buddy Todd Daggett dropped his flying foot mug and broke the handle off.  He made a really great looking repair with copper bands around the cup that hold a copper handle.  What was that about ten or 12 years ago?

Bruce to the best of my knowledge ,is no longer teaching at Pine tech .
I learned basic engraving from him and gunbuilding from Herschel House in a course they taught together sponsored by the NRA in the very late 90's .The were teaching simultaneously which made in hard to concentrate on what to learn
Bruce engraves very deeply and was particularly fond of his signature winged foot .Great to here what the origins of that was.
Some of Bruce's stuff is for sale on occasion .Track had an  underhammers of his own design for sale some months back .Nice design .
