While making this tool, make two stocks. Make one as shown in the video. On the second one, champher (bevel) both the long and short legs.
The flat short leg is good for riding on straight edges. With the short leg champhered it will ride on curves--especially inside curves--while keeping a constant distance from the edge. Unless all your woodworking is on dead straight surfaces/edges, you'll want the other one as well.
