W. Jenkins. Barrel maker ?????
« on: March 22, 2010, 03:11:19 AM »
My friend's new-to-him 29 caliber rifle has a barrel marked "W. Jenkins" on a bottom flat.   Has anybody heard of W. Jenkins?   Any information about him appreciated!   Thanks.

Wayne Jenkins from Salyersville KY.
Wayne's a good friend and fellow member of Kentucky's Corps of Longriflemen.
I'm pretty sure he got his barrel making equipment a while back from another old Corps member whose now deceased, Rex Maxey,
There are a number of Hershel, and other KY made .29 cal flintlocks around, whose barrels came from Rex Maxey's shop.

I have used one of these barrels on a Southern rifle, and it shoots very well.
