When I shot matches a lot of times I would post on the 100 yard first. I was less tired, others would fill up the boards on the 25, then go to the 50 etc. I fired a fouler at gongs or other novelty targets before shooting. After the 100 I would then clean out the rifle and go to the shorter ranges. Depending on the target I usually shot in the 40's on the 100 yard offhand. I changed loads because I always wanted a dead on sight picture. Using two rifles was considered not quite cricket with the group I shot against and it was more fun not giving them excuses. When I set up shoots, I started using the 24" square 50 yard rapid fire pistol at 100 yards so some people could score. It also eliminated cross fires and still discriminated among the good shots.
