Just found this site,  I am new to this aspect of firearms,  I have always been fascinated by the flintlock, Ky rifles.  I know nothing about them but did purchase a beautiful piece 10-15 years ago.  I have shot it several times, amazed at how accurate it is.  Not really sure about the correct cleaning proceedure and want to lean more about this style of shooting and collecting.  The gun I have is a 50cal. made by "Eugene Long"  I have search seveal sites and nothing shows up.  If anyone is kind enough to take the time to direct me, I duly appreciate it.  I will keep looking at this site, and gather what info I can.  thanks in advance

Larry,

Welcome to the ALR Forum

If you look in the Blackpowder Shooting thread you will learn a lot!!  The guys will help you gladly.  There are more opinions on that thread than you ever wanted to hear, about how to clean your flintlock....... my philosophy is.. the simpler the better!!  It is a real fun and very knowledgeable bunch...jump in.

Some suppliers:

Also depending on where you live there are probably some guys on here who would love to shoot with you and compare notes on gun cleaning and anythingg else you want to talk about..

Wow, I didn't expect a reply so soon,  Many thanks.  I will look into the thread.  Even the thread will be an experience.  All I do is work but since I turned 62, I am trying to expand my horizons.  I live in the Nashville, TN area.  Thanks again for the info.  I do appreciate it.
