Installing flash guard on Traditions Shenandoah

Ok, this may be a bit irregular, and i apologize if this is in the wrong spot. A friend of mine recently got a .50 traditions Shenandoah rifle for reenacting. Unfortunately this means she needs a flash guard installed. I'm not sure if any of you are familiar with their locks, but the frizzen screw seems to be 4.5x0.6mm thread, which in itself is irregular enough, but on top of that, it threads from the back so i cant just get a longer bolt to thread in with the flash guard. The threaded hole on the face side has 0.075 of an inch of metal to work with, and the back hole, while larger, has less material to work with (cant measure it with the calipers i have due to the angle). In any case, I'm at a loss for what to do here.

Do i try and find a suitable bolt and just thread it through the face to the other side, leaving the frizzen a bit loose on the threads, as well as the bolt free to move a bit on the barrel side? I don't have a camera with me at the moment, but if its still not clear, i will try to get a picture at a later point.

Many thanks,

Bryce

Two options come to mind, first L&R makes a replacement lock for that rifle.  The other choice would be to check nut and bolt supply houses for a much longer bolt, and a nut for it, though that bolt might be shouldered, and could be a problem.  I'm really surprised any Juried reenactment group would let someone use a Shenandoah, as it's far from accurate for any portrayal.

Haha, believe me, i agree with you on what you said about that rifle... not only is it not historically accurate, but it also leaves something to be desired in its construction... but anyways, its not my decision to make (i just get stuck with the safety related stuff) Thanks a lot for your input.
