the current newstand issue of Man at Arms magazine has a nice center spread of one by a Richard Allen of Georgia.  Circa 1815-1820.

Saw those pictures in the magazine at the bookstore the other day, and that is one interesting rifle.  I was planning to bring it up in this forum, but you beat me to it.  It will be interesting to see what perspectives others here have about it.

I am fascinated by this gun.  It has a huge, honest to goodness, real life, functional cheekpiece.  I was shocked to see such a thing on a rifle this "late", and especially from "the South".

I too was kind of enchanted by this gun, and was hopeful some of the good folks around here might be able to provide additional pictures or information.  It's different enough to be interesting, but not so far out that it is unappealing.
