Ashmore Lock
« on: June 08, 2010, 05:20:56 PM »
Can anybody tell about the Dixie Gun Works, Ashmore flintlock.
In my bucket of junk, I found an unused Ashmore lock, I would like to put something like that on a .32 cal squirrel I was planning on building.

I used one on the first flintlock I built back in the 70's - as I recall, it sparked well, but the tumbler was pretty rough.  I recall the mainspring seemed pretty strong, which, provided geometry was right, gave the potential for a usable lock.  I would say with proper tuning, it would work fine.

I have two of them in left hand.  I found that they were pretty good locks.  Both are still going.
