Geezer pistol
« on: June 04, 2010, 02:44:23 PM »
Some old geezer named Lanning has a silver mounted pistol on the blog today. Very nice piece of work. Appears to even have a silver lock plate. Very nicely carved and engraved, somewhat unusual and refreshing overall.
Nice work Earl. ;D

Say, any of you boys smithies? Or, if not smithies per se, were you otherwise trained in the metallurgic arts before straitened circumstances forced you into a life of aimless wanderin'?

Beautiful pistol. Who made the barrel and what size and caliber is it?

Best regards

If memory serves me correctly, I believe Earl hand forged that barrel.  I made and engraved the silver lock, but don't you guys get the idea that I routinely make locks with silver plates.  You don't want to know the cost of those.  Earl did all of the other engraving, carving, etc.  Heck of a nice pistol by a grand old master.

Jim,

Is that silver lockplate a fancy version of your Queen Anne Lock or is it a complete custom design?
Quality, schedule, price; Pick any two.
