I will try and answer all in one.
The number is the date I posted it, it is just a quick reference for me.
The tip is drilled through. I have seen only one screw tip that was solid, it could have been used as a measure. I would think screwing it on and off X number of times a day would get a little old and be time consuming. Also consider the wear and tear. I have read that screw tips may have been used as a funnel to fill the horn. If the horn had internal threads it would be easier to fill. Hopefully we will hear other ideas.
This one is threaded ˝-13, I also use 5/8-11.
I usually start two, three, four, whatever, horns at a time. Like light now I have 11 horns started in one state or another. As the spirit moves me (or I get an idea) I work on them or start others. I wait until I have a few before I take pics, I have three more that I haven’t posted and three to take pics of. As to how many I do, should say finish, in a week it is hard to tell. If I work them all to a certain point I could very well finish all 11 in the same week. It is kind of a two step forward one back operation, finish one start two more. Sometimes I make a few tips, a few bands, drill antler or horns, make a tip and then a horn around it, kind of back A** wards I know but it keeps me from getting board. When that happens I build furniture or bows and right now there is no room for any more furniture and the bow rack is over flowing.
Thanks, I am glad you like this one, Tim C.
