Any info on this gun?

I just recieved this gun and would like to find out what i can about it.  What do yall think I have here?  42"  aprox 36 cal.  Half stock walnut.  2 piece iron buttplate, 3 pices iron trigger guard,  single phase set triggers, poured nose cap and brass entry thimble, brass toe plate.  Barrel has slight swamp and is bigger at muzzle than breech.  ivory or bone insert for front sight.  mssing side plate { where have i seen a side plate shaped like this before?  looks so familier}  The nipple bolster is dovetailed into the side of the barrel and soldered

I suspect it was originally a full stock. Probably a southern mountain rifle. Need to see the lock and lock mortise side. Patch or cap box?

Dennis  I will get more pics.  The lock is missing and there is no patchbox or grease hole.

Why do my photos keep spreading out on the screen?  How do you get them to line up vertical

The photos appear to be in a vertical line to me. Maybe its your computer screen settings.

Still looks like a southern Appalachian Mountain rifle. Looks like a hand forged trigger guard. That entry pipe looks out of line but it might have been built with just a regular pipe and someone replaced it with that entry pipe (note the different colored wood in under the extension.

The cheek rest is a little different than most I have seen.

Probably had a Goulcher (or similar) percussion lock.

You didn't mention the barrel length but since the breech is smaller than the muzzle it may have been cut off and re-breeched.
