stock finish

This is the first time I am trying Tru oil ..how many coats should I put on don`t want a real shiny finish I got 5 on right now

Be sure to get enough coats on to really seal the wood well.  Then cut back the shine with a soft buckskin pad, some boiled linseed oil, and some rottenstone.

About 600, LOL.  It sure varies with the wood you have.  Definitely go for shine then cut it back, in my opinion, to make sure you have a good durable finish in and a little bit on th ewood.

One word of caution -- both methods work well but be careful, they both cut faster than you think so check often before you cut down to the bare wood!
