single trigger install
« on: September 19, 2008, 01:29:59 AM »
installed my single trigger today and i am very happy with it.had to do some filing but after a couple hours it has no slop when lock is not cocked and when you cock it there is about a 1/16" travel before its engaged.this is my first single trigger setup and i really like it.just something about the way they look compared to a dbl.trigger setup that is very pleasing to the eye.

I really like single triggers. But I have tried to pin the trigger to the stock through the lock inlett and the side plate and I have extreme difficulty drilling the hole straight AND where I want it. I can get one but not both. I am just cursed. Just wanted to add that I prefere to make a trigger plate with the ears so I can make a trigger assembly.

Know the feeling. Another week. I wanted the lock engraved, but I can do that later.  Trouble is I wanted to either age the steel or just the patina from  scrubbed super blue. I have another smoothie right behind it on the bench in cherry, probably finish that one before thanksgiving.  I haven't been this excited about building in a long time. It's probably from all you guys on the board.

i just put the finishing touchs on my early colonia round face lock today.let it rust up for two days down in the basement then steel wooled it and left some of the nooks and crannies kind of grungy.reassembled it and it really looks aged and like it has seen quite a few years of service.going for that antiqued look and feel.
