The architectural design of the Jaeger can be seen in early northeastern Pennsylvania guns specifically the Christian Springs gunmaking center.
 
These Military Jaegers were made in the same general locality in Germany (Schmalken) and supplied the most significant quantity of arms to the Hessian ( Hesse-Cassel sp?) troops. These arms also influenced the design of the P.1776 Rifle for British light troops as well as eventually the British Baker Rifle. The bore was the British Carbine Bore (.65) facilitating resupply from military stores.
 
The German troops were known to be deadly accurate with their short rifle and caused havoc amongst American troops by picking off officers, artillerymen and mounted troops. Ironically, German field tactics replicated those used by American longriflemen.
