Sir,

I was just going through the library when I ran across the A.N. Jackson rifle.  I was curious to know if you have anymore info on him other than working in Tyler Co WV?  Where I live was part of Tyler Co until 1837, there was a Blacksmith/Gunmakers shop in my backyard some time ago.  The town was renamed in 1907 when they moved the Post Office here.  Also can you tell me what school this rifle follows, in your opinion?

Don,t know anything abt. Jackson..They was a James Berkheimer 1850 Census, Gunsmith Tyler County..Samuel Todd Sherwood (1828-1900) was from Doddridge not to far from you. There is a guy on this site that goes by BGC who knows more about WV guns than most, maybe he will chime in....

I believe it was determined that A.N. Jackson might have been from VA.  I have lived in Tyler County, WV  my entire life and no one has ever heard of this gunsmith.
Have never heard of him in Wetzel County either.  There is no documentation of a J.N. Jackson gunsmith ever existing in this area.  A gun of that quality would have definitely caused the maker to be well known.

BGC,

Would love to talk to you about the Style of Rifle that would have been made or used in this area. Wether in Va, or Wv  after 1863 ofcourse.  PM me please.
