Swivel breech-fastening forestock panels?
« on: November 11, 2010, 06:49:47 PM »
As I'm getting near the end of my first  SB build, I'm puzzled as to how to fasten the forestock panels.  The breech ends are held quite solid by the frizzen plates but the rest seems problematic.   The ramrod side panel is literally paper thin.  Seems to me the standard escutchens/pins would really be solid.  Something like a 'T' shaped wedge wih a small pin through the base?  Solutions....Please!

The panels on my swivel are thin as well and they tend to crack at the thinner places.
I used a forend cap with a screw and screws to hold the rod pipes on. These clamp and hold the panels on.
