What a fantastic rifle. At the risk of sounding greedy, would it be possible to get a photo of the ramrod side panel?

hurricane:  Here is another rifle by D. Boyer.  These photos were taken of the gun as it arrived for some restoration.  It is a "chunk" gun with a massive barrel on it that measured 1 & 1/4" at the breech and 1 & 1/8" at the muzzle.  The cal. was 45.  Some one had converted it to percussion and had done a butchering bad job with it.  I converted it back to flint and made it "sound" again.  The gun weighed 16 lbs.  I suspect that this rifle was made late in Boyer's career circa 1855.        H. Further comments on the D. Boyer chunk gun:  The bottom of the barrel breech was stamped "Leeds" and the rifling had a left hand twist.  This suggests to me that Boyer used an English imported barrel for this rifle.  Also the brass patchbox was installed with "brass" screws!   H.T.
