Pick & Whisk Set

I just completed a whisk & pick, chain, and oil bottle set for a customer in Canada.  Handles are ebony, metal parts are brass except for polished and heat treated steel pick blade.  The pick doubles as an excellent sewing awl and has a brass scabbard.  The brush is horse hair and is replaceable.

Ron,

The chain is made by wrapping wire rings and carefully silver brazing the ends closed.  That's why you can't see any cut ends - there aren't any once the rings are brazed.  The rings are then placed on a tool I made that pulls them into an oval under some tension.  The ovals are then twisted to form the main links.  They can be joined directly, or, as in this case, made individually and joined with separate jump rings that are also individually wrapped and soldered.  I make different styles of chain in coper, iron, brass, silver, and gold.  This is a slightly better view of this chain.

The chains are very nice, but the finials on the pick and brush are even better! Really like the ivory ones if I do say so.

Here are the handles turned out of the Lignum Vitae you sent me.  The grain and color are so nice I haven't decided whether to flute them or not.
