Greetings to the crew!

does anyone know, IF any of the barrel makers offer a "do it yourself" blank? ::)

I have a project going and I need to create a barrel with some specific dimensions/bore measurements. IF I could find a .50 cal, smooth bore blank,1.25" diameter..  I could do the rest in my bud's shop and on our "Junk yard" sine bar rifler!

I'm hand building the parts to a Jenks rifle.. a Civil War Era carbine, but it is a bit out of scope for open/general discussions.

I think GM used to offer an unrifled barrel but dont know what sizes and cal. if they did.      Gary

I ordered a 28 gauge blank from John Getz earlier this year.  I ask for a certain length and O.D. and had John just drill and ream it for me.  I breeched it up and turned the outside profile on my lathe.

Dag,
You're a day late and a dollar short.  I had exactly that for years and didn't know what I was going to do with it.  I finally gave it to JB and he turned it down into an oct/round for me.

Gun Parts Corp. (Numrich) used to have some.  Might check online to see what they've got left.

 Ain't it just my luck! ;)  I've had this build in the works for a while, I just sort of re-discovered it and want to put it on my list of completed builds.  Looked over the stuff at Numrich/Gun Parts.  They don't have anything in a .50, but I might be able to work around another one they have??

Push, come to shove.. I could always wear Westerbeck down and do a bit of gundrilling on his Howa again! I'd just rather have it  done by an expert and get the hard part out of the way..and then I could finish it .

Give Liston a call at Rice barrel Co. They have smooth bored barrel blanks available.
