I was turkey huntin in the Bankhead nat. forest a few yrs back when i came up on a old home place in the woods. the rock foundation an the old well is still there. I made a call while standing by the old foundation an a bird answered me just over the hill so I had to make a fast setup right there. I sat down by a huge whiteoak an felt something stickin me in the backside. the gobbler topped the hill an I busted him in the wattles an when I looked to see what was stickin me this is what was stickin out of the ground a little. I sent this to Jim Chambers an he thinks its english 1810-1830 an was a common lock for my part of the country. I did scratch around an try to find more of the gun but had no luck. I thought yall might want to see this though.

Nothing beats the feel of a handmade southern iron mounted flintlock on a cold frosty morning

Cool to find a piece of history, while acting out a piece of history, in the wilds.
