Rifled barrel liner in 12 gauge.
« on: December 28, 2010, 02:47:42 PM »
Hey guys, perhaps you could help me out.
I wish to install a rifled barrel liner in a 12 ga. double ( one side only )
The double is a Pedersoli.
I believe, I would epoxy the liner in place.
Any ideas, as to the maximum safe caliber. I would like .45, but I have my doubts.
Best regards

I have a 12 gauge liner in .50 cal. made by Les Bauska, if that's any use to you.

And many years ago, I lined a .38 cal original Rook Rifle with a brand new .36 cal. barrel that I turned down to 9/16" and epoxied into the old shell.  It shoots like a @!*%.

A round barrel .700 in diameter (12 bore is likely larger than this) in 50 caliber rifle with .010 grooves will have .090 wall. Since there is no need of cutting notches or drilling holes this should be adequate.
If you are worried look at the wall thickness on shotguns and revolver cylinders or have the liner made of 4150 GB quality.

Always a smart comment! ;D
I'm sure it will be a bit one sided.
