Knife W/Horn Handle
« on: December 16, 2010, 03:49:34 PM »
I wanted to see how a turned horn knife handle would come out, this is the result. The blade started life as a 22” Starrett  power hack saw blade, it is now about 4 ½ X ¾. The handle is a solid tip and the blade is pinned in with two steel pins. Over all it is about 8 1/4"

I like it Tim.  I remember how you told your class in Lodi how when a rifle was made they usaully came with a bag and a horn.  Sort of a family.  Frankenstien has a bag.  The horn, my first, will be done soon.  I also have my first knife I ever made to accompany these items.  I thought it fitting to make the handle out of the same horn the nosecap was made from.  As soon as it is comepleted I will post the results.

  P.S.

I used the method you demenstrated in your Lodi class.  I hope to do you proud.  Keep an eye out for it. ;)

I like skinning with a knife that has a drop point. Good job.    AL
