Hawk by Steve Boyleston

The maker advises the influence behind the Tomahawk came from design elements taken from several original Augusta Co. and Rockbridge  Virginia Longrifles

Is he saying that tomahawk design was influenced by longrifles or that longrifles were influenced by tomahawk of the area.

Great looking Hawk regardless of where the influence came from.  Nice rework of the HB head.

Steve,
Nice looking hawk!  How did you create the designs on the handle?  What kind of finish did you use?  Thanks for sharing.

Nitric Acid finish.

I like the shank profile and...of course the scroll work.  Jazzes it up, reduces weight, looks great!

Did you burn the design into the handle--or did you carve it and color it?  Thanks!

Hawk is carved and Nitric Acid stained.
