Took the fowler for a little walk

Headed out to one of my favorite spots this morning and wasn't let down. This makes it two for two for pheasants and this gun.

Congratulations.   Thanks for the picture, I need to be reminded what a pheasant looks like. They used to be so plentiful, but I can't remember the last time I saw one.

Can't help but wish.  Snows too deep now, seasons closed in MN and pheasants are scarce when its open.  Likely will be scarce again next year with the snows.  Keep on shooting.

No particular style other than mine ;) The butt plate is sheet brass nailed on.

Shovelbuck. A good fat bird it should be good eating.Was it a sporting crossing ,or going away bird  or maybe a overhead

Last one I saw was outside of it's pen (trying to get back in - hungry I guess) ::)

Well, let's see...........he was going almost straight up with a drift to my left and away. The answer is "D"...all the above. :)

Great shooting,,somthing I need to do in the future. Just gotta find a few birds that the Coyote and Fox haven't got to yet.

Here in the UK we have a good stock of wild pheasants also grey and red leg partridges, the latter been the most common.I prefere mine driven which results in hectic loading with a sxs flint or percussion shotgun

Shovelbuck - your gun looks just great, Way to go on that rooster.

Feltwad - one of the clients we guided back in 2004 or 05, raised pheasants in the UK for the driven hunts.  He used to send me the lists of their 'bags' after a day's shoot.  Ducks, pigeons, rabbits and pheasants and grouse, all from a drive.  I don't remember where this was exactly, but  & his brother now have a gun shop.

Ducks .pigeon, rabbits and pheasants  are more associated to the Lowland shoots  which also include partridge and woodcock .Rearing is more for ducks pheasants and partridge  but most shoots are wild birds .The red grouse is only found in the UK this is a true wild bird and found on the moors of England Scotland This Saturday the 22th will be my last driven day for season ,mostly wild pheasants and woodcock .I hope to use my percussion sxs if the weather is good if not it will be my sxs black powder hammer breech loader.On a good day on this estate we should bag  80 to 100 head.
