Old lock ID
« on: February 21, 2011, 02:40:46 AM »
Greetings,
I'm new here, but I have a long-lasting interest in muzzle-loading rifles. I've built one percussion .36 rifle.
I recently bought a pistol at a flea market. It was in with a couple of non-firing replica pistols, but I could see that this one actually had a working flintlock lock on it.
Here are a couple of pictures of the lock. Can anyone help me identify it?

The frizzen is not original to the lock. It doesn't fit, and it is too small. The sear spring is broken, and has been partially replaced by a coil spring.Neither the frizzen nor the tumbler have a bridle.
Here is the pistol it came off of. The seller told me he thought it came from Saudi Arabia.Except for the lock, it's a piece of junk. The barrel looks like someone took a piece of tubing (maybe a gun barrel) and drove a piece of steel into the end for a breechplug. It has a touchhole, but shows no signs of being fired. And I'm not about to try it myself!

I would appreciate any help anyone can give me in identifying the lock.
Thanks,
Rick
