ALR Museum Gunsmith: A very fine gun
« on: March 07, 2011, 12:50:48 AM »
This gun is attributed to J.P. Beck by its owner but the attribution is not confirmed by barrel signature thus far. As this is a fine gun it is included for study, but awaits confirmation as to maker.
It is offered for study and comment.

I am by no means a J. P. Beck expert but I see nothing here that looks like a Beck except for the patchbox side plates that extend past the hinge, which is one of the Lebanon school characteristics.

When you look thru all of the books published on Kentuckie's, you will see a lot of J.P.Beck rifles, but this one sure does
not fit the mould.   It could be a Beck, but not J. P.................Don
