Christian Beck: A simple and honest, approximately .40, with a 44" full length barrel. I would place this as a Chambersburg School piece, with its straight lines. The simple incised carving at the rear entry pipe shows the quality of Beck's work, all the while executing a relatively simple rifle, showing honest wear, nice patina and period repairs. This came from a significant collection of Pennsylvania folk art prior to its dispersal.
