New Squirrel Rifle
« on: September 07, 2008, 03:45:31 AM »

Hello everyone on the forum. This is my new squirrel rifle. It's my first flintlock. My Dad(mike e on the forum) made it. It's a .36 cal. with a 36 in. Green Mountain barrel, Barnett lock and curly maple stock. I shot it at the Davy Crockett Days event in August at David Crockett State park in Tenn.

Way to go Clint - no better way to hunt squirrels. How fortunate you are to have such a wonderful dad & especially one who makes you a rifle. WOW!

Nice rifle Clint.  You should be eating squirrel stew before to long.  Just keep your powder dry and shoot straight.  Keep us posted on the hunting.

Clint's a pretty good shot! He tied me on the novelty shoot at Davy Crockett. He had only shot that rifle about ten times while sighting in the week before. He's really getting into the history and all. He can start a fire with flint and steel, molds his own roundballs and sewed his own moccasins. ;D I think I've got him hooked!

P.S. Thanks

Very nice indeed. I think you will really like the 36 caliber.
I once killed a fox at 150 steps with a 36 flintlock, but my eyes were a lot better then. *Maybe* a little luck involved.
