Alfred Beaden Guns
« on: March 09, 2011, 02:04:33 AM »
I am the g-g-grandson of Alfred Bearden and have been searching for some time for one of his rifles.  If anyone has any information on where I may find one to purchase, I would greatly appreciate the lead.  I am a member of the SAR through Alfred's grandfather John.  I am currently in the process of restoring the cemetery where Alfred is buried near Fayetteville, TN.

My parents had visited with Dan Wallace many years ago, but at that time, unfortunately, they did not inquire on where they may find one to purchase.

Thanks for any help.

My advice after seeking guns made by my ancestors.  Don't ever tell anyone
why you want one.  Keep it to yourself.  Your wallet will thank you.
The biggest KY rifle show of the year is in Baltimore the weekend after next.
It's likely you could find one there or someone there who knows about one.
Good luck in your hunt.  I wish you well.

There is a Alfred Bearden rifle pictured on the May 1992 cover of Muzzle Blasts magazine . It was for sale not to long ago. I'm not sure if it was sold.   JIM

There was a longrifle in the Veterans Museum in Athens, Ala. that has Bearden characteristics, spurred triggers, brass furniture, very curly maple, long lock panels, pointed tang, small cheek piece.... It was broken thru the wrist and had a poor repair. Doubt if its for sale but interesting if you want to see one. I haven't been in over a year so don't know if its still there. I could not find any markings on it.

I know of two Bearden rifles that can be bought. One of the two could well be the best one out there. Contact me and I'll give you more information.
