Jacob Dickert rifle
« on: April 17, 2011, 04:24:16 AM »
I am hoping someone would have some pictures of a Jacob Dickert rifle to help me in my build.
Any and all would be appreciated.
Best regards

Lots of pictures in Shumway's books if you can find a copy to study.    Smylee

If you want to build a Dickert rifle, Rifles of Colonial America Volume I is a must have.

Unless you have access to an original rifle(s) its simply not possible to build without proper reference books.
For you purposes Rifles of Colonial America vol 1 By George Shumway is needed. If the price is too high try obtaining one through your local library using inter-library loan. I have used this in the past. I think they let you keep them for 2 weeks or so.
There is a very fine early J. Dickert pictured in color in "Moravian Gun Making of the American Revolution" it is published by the Kentucky Rifle Association and ordering information is available on the KRA's web site. Being color the book is expensive for its volume of content. But the high quality color pictures of the rifles are priceless. The color photos are far more revealing than B&W.

Old Ford 2,
Muzzleloading Builders Supply has a nice Houston Harrison drawing of a Jacob Dickert Rifle.  Houston's drawings are full size and very detailed. Here is the link.  http://muzzleloaderbuilderssupply.com/cgi-bin/mbscart/agora.cgi Type in drawing and scroll down to the Jacob Dickert drawing.
At $14.95 plus shipping it is way cheaper then any of the books out there.
