Seeing the post on the pipe hawk prompted me to post this one I did from a Goehring cast.  My dad picked it up from Reeves many years ago and gave it to me for my birthday.  it laid around for many years as I did not know and was not sure what I wanted to do with it.  30 years later i found it in a box and it became that weekend's project (last summer).  the head is one of the last ductile iron works that Reeves did and has documentation to back it up.  I wish I could find my copy.  I used a hickory billet to make the handle (all drawknife) added some copper inlays and a little hand checkering above the grip.  Metal aged with BC hot brown then hot oil quenched.  handle aged with a bit of heat (burn) then bear oil. finally a coat of linseed/beeswax mix and buffed out.  sinew wrap below the head.

comments welcomed.

Looks pretty darn good John. A nice bag and a good horn to go with it, a small hand forged knife and a measure hanging on it. I can see a beautiful set there.

That is nice. I don't know anything about putting one together right, but have done a lot of draw shave work and that is a nice looking haft.
