Gene's lube
« on: April 27, 2011, 05:13:33 PM »
Wondering if any of you have tried this lube? If you haven't you may want to. It is a patch lube and seasoning lube. I have had great results as have others that I have recommended it to. It comes in a tin that is also great for a fire kit but it will take you a while to use the contents. This stuff lasts!    contact info: Gene High 1614 Capetown Grand Prairie, TX 75050    978-262-3729

You may get some responses on the concept of a "seasoning" lube.

I always scrub all the seasoning out of my barrel when I'm done shooting.

What kind of seasoning is in it? Garlic and pepper?

I don't even like to let my bore season during shooting.  When I was young and gullible, I had a wonderfully seasoned bore (as instructed by the lube manufacturer and local users) that rusted quickly.  When the accuracy went south, I started getting rid of all that beneficial seasoning (which in the kitchen would be call baked on crud) and found a nice layer of rust.  Two days of lapping saved it (thankfully), but I haven't used a seasoning lube or left anything in the bore after cleaning except a protective coat of oil since.  Haven't missed it, either.

Seasoning is for frying pans, not barrels. But everyone to their own.

I prefer mine to be bare steel. Easy to clean, and great, clean shooting.

I used it a few years back and a fellow shooter got me onto spit patching for shooting and Murphy's oil soap and water(50/50) for cleaning or just plain old water. I just know a bunch that still use the stuff and wondered if anyone here had.
