Early PA screw-tip horn

Hello All!
Just finished an early southern Pennsylvania screw-tip horn.  I saw the original image of the horn from a group that were various forms of PA horns up for auction.  The horn is just over 16 inches--I know, little long--but that is how it grew on the cow and the only one I had to work with.  It is a left-carry horn.  The butt is 2 1/2 wide and 1 1/4 inches deep.  The tip is turned horn and measures 2 1/2 long.  The plug is Cherry that I stained very dark--did not have any maple to turn, so I went with what I had on hand.  There is an iron staple in the throat and the butt.  I used a 5/8-11 tap/die for the screw tip.  The threads were a little rough and parts chipped off--have seen a lot of originals that had the same issue.  I smoothed the threads with beeswax and screwed the tip on/off, working the wax into the threads.  I wanted the horn to look like it was part of the collection and aged it using Rit dyes and oil-paint wash.  The entire horn has been steel wooled to lighten the horn/plu/tip in wear areas.  Any critiques?  As you all know, I love to do F&I, so this is some work in uncharted waters.  Thanks!

Top notch horn there Carl.   i like the aging and the tip has a very nice smooth line to it.  Yeah a bit long but hey...not all Historical pieces can be an "exact match.  I am very familiar with the uncharted waters...I am currently in them myself.

I like it Carl.  Very nice clean design.   Have a blank horn just about identical in curve and size that I've been wondering what to do with.  I think I know now.
