Banded Pincushion
« on: April 22, 2011, 05:11:34 AM »
OK  Rase threw out the challenge to make a banded pincushion so here it is. The first has bands that Tim might like and the second has bands like I make. The bands are turned on the body. I thought about dying the bands and then polishing it off the center but I got in a hurry today. Pine bases. So here you go Dave. Enjoy!!!

I actually made three. This is a small one that's kind of tall. When I was putting the pins in it, it reminded me of a Dalek from Dr. Who. When Pam saw it she said it reminded her of a Dalek. So if you're a Dr Who fan what do you think?

I like the idea Rick had on the other site for installing a bail on the pin cushion.  You could make another like the third one only upside down with a bail installed on it.

I've got some neat ideas for other items using the same materials and skills. I'll post pics when I get them done.

Their easy to make, use up scrap horn and wood, and think of the points you'll score with the little lady!!!!  If you have a lathe you really should try one of these.
